St. Peter annual food drive for Caring Place in Georgetown
2017 Hurricane Relief
In addition to earlier direct donations from members, all profits from the annual St. Peter Chili Supper were dedicated toward South Texas Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
With the hard work of many members and the generous support from the community, we fed about 300 individuals and cleared about $1,900.
These funds are being sent to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas. Our Savior’s has stepped up as a central coordination and distribution point, collecting from across the nation and distributing to individuals and communities identified by churches in many of the smaller, more rural areas. Their ministry includes coordinating rebuilding efforts, and providing cots and kitchen facilities to house mission teams from across the country. They expect this ministry to last at least 2 years.
The Chili Supper also shared surplus chili with local groups, including Food for Friends of Georgetown, Grace Place in Taylor, and the Weir Fire Department.
2016 Caring Place Food Drive
The St. Peter Thanksgiving Holiday Food Drive again benefited the Georgetown Caring Place. We collected 1,384 pounds of non-perishable food and other supplies. We also collected $1,745 in cash donations plus $500 matching from Thrivent.
This was again a roaring success!

Bell-ringing for the 2017 campaign is underway!
St. Peter Quilting Ministry
In March of 2017, the St. Peter Quilting ministry donated 60 hand-made quilts to Lutheran World Relief for those in need of warmth and comfort. This demonstrated a continuing commitment of skills and resources by this group. They also raffled quilts for funds to support other community ministries.
